FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does NoLo stand for?
A: No Location Problems! We want your CGM to be protected all day and night!

Q: Who needs a NoLo Cover?
A: Our NoLo Covers are designed for anyone who wears a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM). Currently, NoLo is only available for the Dexcom G7.

Coming soon for: Freestyle Libre 2, Freestyle Libre 3, Medtronic Simplera.

Q: Why would someone need a cover for their CGM?
A: CGMs can have issues when exposed to external pressure- typically when lying down to relax or sleep. The NoLo helps distribute external physical force evenly. NoLo also serves to protect the CGM device from everyday wear and tear so that you can live freely and move comfortably.

Q: What happens when a CGM is exposed to external pressure?
A: External pressure on a CGM can cause it to incorrectly read your blood glucose levels. This can often lead to a false low reading which results in CGM users taking immediate corrective action to fix. When the external pressure is relieved and the sensor is back to reading normally again, you'll often notice your glucose levels are now too high...because they weren't truly low in the first place. This glucose rollercoaster typically takes place when you're trying to obtain a restful night of sleep.

Q: Why is external pressure such a problem?
A: Most CGM users place their device on the back of their arm or stomach. When sleeping at night these areas come into direct contact with the bed putting pressure on the CGM itself. When too much external pressure is put on the CGM it often times will alert the user with a false low data reading, requiring them to take action of increasing their glucose to safer levels. This action of correcting the false low can then lead to elevated sugar levels instead. Thus the rollercoaster of chasing highs and lows begins! This scenario is most common in the middle of the night, disrupting your sleep and potentially disrupting your partners or caretakers sleep. In some cases, CGM users must move their sensor location on their body to inconvenient locations just to avoid having false low readings during their sleep.

Q: What's unique and special about NoLo Covers in particular?
A: Currently, there are no known methods or devices on the market which mitigate excessive external pressure for CGM's while also providing protection during the day. NoLo Covers have been designed to offer CGM users a strapless and removeable solution without additional adhesives or patches to provide the peace of mind needed for a good night sleep or a day full of activity.

Q: Are they reusable?
A: YES! All you need is one cover and you are set!

Q: When should I wear it?
A: NoLo can be worn any time! For a good night rest we recommend wearing it before bed or laying down. NoLo can also be worn during workout classes, swimming, and sports activities to protect your CGM.

Q: Is it safe?
A: We designed the NoLo Cover with safety first! We reviewed hundreds of materials to ensure the one we chose is safe for all skin types. There are no adhesives, glues, tapes, or pastes used for NoLo application.

Q: What about FDA approval?
A: This is our goal. We do not have FDA approval yet, and are looking to perfect this design (we think we're REALLY close!) to ensure we can legally & eventually make the performance claims we want.

Q: What's it made of?
A: The plastic we chose is a very rigid, strong, water-proof, and skin-safe contact medical-grade plastic called Lexan. We chose this plastic because it's impact tough (nearly indestructible, but please don't try) and used in many safety applications and we wanted to design this so this is the only one you'll buy.

Q: So no adhesives?
A: Nope! We designed our NoLo Covers to have a snug fit over you CGM keeping them secure enough to stay in place all day and light enough to be removed easily without any uncomfortable tugging at your skin.

Q: Why is it clear?
A: Lexan is naturally clear and is commonly used in safety shields and medical tools.

Q: How do I put it on and take it off?
A:To put it on, simply press it over your CGM sensor firmly. It is designed to be a snug fit to the outer diameter of your CGM.

To take it off, use one of your fingers to hold the center of your CGM in place while you lift the cover off with your other finger(s).

Q: Will there be any other colors?
A: Right now, we're accessing the market demand for NoLo Covers and would love to have more colors/designs to fit users' lifestyles and personalities. Think of a clear NoLo as a blank canvas to express yourself!

Q: What should I clean it with?
A: Warm soap & water. Please do not attempt to disinfect with hydrogen peroxide as it will degrade the strength and appearance of the plastic over time.

Q: Where is it made?
A: NoLo Covers are 100% designed and manufactured in the United States of America.

Q: Do you accept returns?
A: Yes, although we would first like to hear why you are returning and see if there's anything we can do to ensure your satisfaction. We spent a lot of time designing and testing our cover designs, so we'd love to know if we may have not got it right! We're all about improving our designs to improve the diabetic & CGM wearing community.

Q: Is this idea patented?
A: Our idea is currently patent pending as we'd love to reach as many CGM users as possible to help them achieve a solution.
